From one of our interns, Jayme Kelly who has worked for us the past two summers...
Over the past two years while working at Pizza Ranch, I’ve learned a lot about the Pizza Ranch Way. To me, the most amazing thing about Pizza Ranch is not the Tuscan Roma pizza - though it is my favorite pizza.
What is my favorite part of Pizza Ranch? Hands down, the most impressive factor contributing to Pizza Ranch’s lure for me is the people who work here. All of you…
My message today is one of encouragement. Encouragement that I’ve felt from many of you while working here. We all know that encouragement is important. Life is tough, and when we don’t keep the right perspective, it can be especially discouraging.
Our struggles as humans are not unique to us - though they do feel isolating. For example, how many of you have ever felt like you are not enough? That you do not work enough? That you do not spend enough time with your kids? That you do not take care of your body well enough? That you do not invest in your friends enough while trying to juggle all these other things? Do you ever feel like you simply are not enough…Let’s see what the scripture has to say about this…
Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Isaiah 64:8 “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand”
Each of these three verses reminds us that we were not just created but hand-crafted by God. He sacrificed His Son and filled in the gaps where we would otherwise not be enough. Because of this incredible act, we are ENOUGH.
Can you imagine if we lived like we were enough? If we stepped out boldly to face new opportunities knowing that who we are is enough and that the outcome of each risk we take does not affect the fact that we are enough.
Because in the eyes of God, nothing we will ever do can ever take away our “enoughness.”
Sadly, that’s not how we live. We spend days, months, even years of our lives “rounding out our edges” molding ourselves and conforming to what we think society wants us to be. We strengthen our weaknesses meanwhile ignoring the unique light of our special gifts.
1 Peter 4:10-11 “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
God gifted each of us with a unique and special gift. Knowing and living out that we are enough is an act of faith. Sometimes it’s not easy. However, when we journey through life with the knowledge that we are enough, our light - which is HIS light - will shine through us. This week honor God by sharing your gift with others.. Go out and let your light shine.
