Friday Devotional - Gratitude
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Gratitude and what that looks like in light of our response to God.
- The definition of Gratitude via Oxford Languages is “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”
- The definition of thankful – “please and relieved”
What does gratitude or being grateful mean to you?
- Maybe you’re nearly at the end of a baseball/softball summer league and you’re grateful for a bit more breathing room in your nightly schedule.
- Maybe an appointment you’ve been worried about came back with negative test results and you’re grateful for a good outcome.
- Maybe a prayer you’ve been praying over someone or over a situation has finally been answered.
Luke 17:11-19 à Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!” When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
