Friday Devotional - The Righteousness of God Revealed
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
The last several devotions have been all about the “The Need for the Gospel.” That none of us are worthy. This next section moves into “The Heart of the Gospel: Romans 3:21–5:21”
The Righteousness of God Revealed (Romans 3:21–22a). Key Verse: “But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.”
Paul shifts dramatically here: “But now…” These two words signal the turning point of history. Humanity’s attempts to keep God’s law have failed; all have sinned (3:23). Yet God has revealed a way to be made right with Him that doesn’t depend on our performance but on His grace. The Law and the Prophets hinted at this righteousness all along—it’s not new, but now it’s fully revealed in Jesus Christ.
This “righteousness of God” isn’t about our moral improvement; it’s God’s own righteousness given to us. It’s a gift, not a goal we achieve.
Big Question: Do we claim, grab, and press into the righteousness given to us instead of trying to earn it?
Prayer: Lord, thank You that You made a way for me to be right with You apart from my efforts. Help me rest in Your revealed righteousness through Jesus Christ.
