Do you ever find yourself singing along with worship music in the car or really enjoying the worship songs that you sing during church? If so, maybe you want to take some time to study the Bible to see where the lyrics are coming from on your favorite songs.

Now, many song lyrics are obvious where they are in the Bible. Songs like Jesus Messiah (by Chris Tomlin) have a title and/or chorus that any Christian knows what it means and why you love it. 

But one thing I've done with some of my favorite songs is to use online resources to find out where I can find the specific lyrics in the Bible. I recently did this with a song called "Dark But Lovely" by Sarah Edwards (click here). I love the song and especially the chorus (Though I'm poor, you say I am lovely. Though I am dark, you say I am beautiful). 

If you are a Bible scholar you perhaps are able to pull the verses right from your head on where these lyrics are coming from. But I had to do research:). And here is what I found:

"Though I am poor".....Matthew 5:3 (Blessed are the poor in spirit)

"You say I am lovely"....Song of Solomon 4:7 (You are altogether beautiful my love)

"Though I am dark"....Song of Solomon 1:5 (I am dark)

"You say I am beautiful"....Song of Solomon 4:7 (You are altogether beautiful my love)

Today I encourage you to find out where in the Bible are the lyrics from your favorite songs found. You will be blessed.
