Monday Mission - Hide it in Your Heart
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Did you know the longest chapter in the Bible has 176 verses? In Psalm 119, King David spends just about every one of those 176 verses singing about God’s Word.
In verse 11, we get to see part of the reason for his obsession:
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You. - Psalm 119:11
When you think about how our sin separates us from God, and that He is our Source of Life, it’s easy to see how that’s a big deal.
Here are just a few more of the many benefits of memorizing His Word:
We can see where we're going - Psalm 119:105
We will know God better -Jeremiah 31:33-34
We have a weapon against the enemy -Ephesians 6:17
We are washed clean -Ephesians 5:26-27
Memorizing Scripture may seem overwhelming, but the pressure isn't all on us! Jesus told His disciples that He would send His Holy Spirit to remind them of everything He's taught them. And He will do the same for us if we ask Him. But how can we be reminded of Scripture we haven't read?
Your challenge this week is to pick up your Sword by getting in the Word and choose one verse or passage of Scripture to hide in your heart.
