Monday Mission - Love those who are sad
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Do you know someone who is going through a hard time? Do you know someone who recently has found out a loved one has a serious injury or medical condition, or passed away? How about someone who is having a hard time financially?
The Bible tells us to "be generous to the poor" (Proverbs 19:17). This can be applied to those who are in need of money or goods or services. It is echoed in the New Testament book of Luke, when Jesus tells us to "share one shirt with someone who has none, if you have two shirts yourself. And if you have food, do the same."
Additionally, for the person who is in mourning the Bible has a very clear path of instruction for us. "Mourn with those who mourn." (Romans 12:15)
Now, you may not know anyone today who is in need of finances, goods, or services. But they are out there. So maybe God is calling you to search for them. And what if you don't know anyone personally who is in mourning or sadness? Well, you can visit a local hospital or jail/prison and you can spend time with people who are.
Pray. Seek what God puts on your heart to do in order to follow through on His commandments to love other people who are hurting, sad, or struggling.
