Monday Mission - Trust God
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Last week I revisited one of my favorite sermons by Pastor Chuck Swindoll. The sermon was called "Trust God", and it was on the anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks against the United States.
In the sermon, he honors those who have passed away, been injured, and the families who have lost loved ones. He mentioned the thousands of people that were lost.
He then turns to say that in our deepest confusion, sadness, and unending grief we must "Trust God". He shares about king David in the Bible (1 Samuel 30) to show what trust looks like. King David and his men were returning to a place of safety called Ziklag. When they got there, they found their homes totally destroyed, their wives and children kidnapped, and nowhere else to go. David's men were so upset with him they threatened to stone him. David was in a BAD spot. What did he do?
1 Samuel 30:6 says "But David found strength in the Lord his God."
When all was bad and sad. When his life was turning upside down. When he was threatened on all sides. What did king David do? He found strength in the Lord his God.
That is a great reminder for anyone who is feeling sad, scared, alone, or defeated. Trust God.
