So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Thursday Thoughts

Esther 8:9 is generally regarded as the longest verse in the Bible. In the original languages the Bible was written in, Revelation 20:4 is the longest. In English, about every translation ends with Esther 8:9 as the longest verse. Ultimately, chapter and verse divisions (as well as any headings) were added well after scripture was written but I still thought it was interesting to check out!

Esther 8:9:

9 At once the royal secretaries were summoned—on the twenty-third day of the third month, the month of Sivan. They wrote out all Mordecai’s orders to the Jews, and to the satraps, governors and nobles of the 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush.[a] These orders were written in the script of each province and the language of each people and also to the Jews in their own script and language.

The book of Esther is phenomenal and offers great examples of how God orchestrates things to His will, being courageous to do the right thing, and much more. Chapter 8 ends with joy and gladness for the Jews for God had provided a path for deliverance through Queen Esther's actions.
