Thursday Thought – What were you made for?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Do you ever stop and wonder what you were created to do? What your contribution to this world would be? What your legacy might look like? These are great questions and ones that I like to think about or challenge other people to think about.
What if the answer to these questions shouldn’t point back to ourselves but rather should point us to the one who made us? I think the answer might actually be quite simple and applies to everything God created and called good. We were made to worship God. Through our worship we grow closer to Jesus and point others to Jesus. Our life becomes less about us and more about God.
Luke 19:36-40 36 As he rode along, the crowds spread out their garments on the road ahead of him. 37 When he reached the place where the road started down the Mount of Olives, all of his followers began to shout and sing as they walked along, praising God for all the wonderful miracles they had seen.
38 “Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord!
Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!”[a]
39 But some of the Pharisees among the crowd said, “Teacher, rebuke your followers for saying things like that!”
40 He replied, “If they kept quiet, the stones along the road would burst into cheers!”
