Thursday Thoughts - By The Way
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
In the book The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis, Aslan gives a girl signs to follow that will keep her and her companions on the path to accomplish their mission. He instructs Jill to "Say them to yourself when you wake in the morning, and when you lie down at night, and when you wake in the middle of the night. And whatever strange things may happen to you, let nothing turn your mind from following the signs."
This sounds a lot like a passage of Scripture about Scripture. In Deuteronomy 6, God instructs His people to keep His law in the forefront of their minds:
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)
That sounds like someone who’s obsessed with God’s Word! The more we meditate on His Word, the more we’ll want to meditate on it.
Today, let’s ask God for a renewed awe of Him and of His Word!
