I’ve heard it said that clear communication is the basis for successful marriage, parenting, employment, and leadership. I’ve also heard it said that clarity is kind. When we prioritize clarity, we bestow kindness to those around us, communicating value and worth, relationship, and connection. So perhaps next time you write that email requesting help from a colleague or confirming information from your 9th grader’s English teacher, consider your comma placement, presence of that run on sentence, or over-use of exclamation marks (I’m the exclamation mark queen, by the way). This small intentionality found between the lines can make a positive impact on the people in your world.
