The prophet Micah wrote the book of Micah around 700 BC, or roughly 700 years before Jesus was born. Micah 5:2 is one of the coolest fulfilled prophecies in the Bible. Micah not only prophesied the region where Jesus would be born, but the exact town: Bethlehem Ephrathah.

Micah 5:2 says, "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

There were actually two different towns called Bethlehem. One was Bethlehem of Galilee, and the other, mentioned here, was Bethlehem Ephrathah. The prophet Micah could have just written that Jesus would come from the region of Judea, or even Bethlehem. However, Micah was so specific, 700 years before Jesus was born, about where our Lord and Savior would be born—and it was Bethlehem Ephrathah.

The Bible is the most fascinating and life-giving book in all of existence. Spend some time studying just how many prophecies have come true and which ones are yet to be fulfilled!
