Thursday Thoughts - Prophecy of Jesus

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Thursday Thoughts

There are estimated to be about 200–400 references to Jesus in the Old Testament. This means that before Jesus was born, God spoke through prophets and writers about the coming of Jesus. One of the most well-known verses comes from Isaiah 7:14, which was written in the 8th century BC, meaning it was written around 800 years before the birth of Jesus. It reads, “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” Isaiah also goes on later to say in chapter 53 verse 5, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Isaiah was referring to Jesus dying on the cross so that through Him we may find eternal life and the forgiveness of our sins. It is so cool to me how these words were written centuries before the life, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus took place. The Bible is God-breathed and true! Its word never comes back void.
