Tuesday Truth - Be a Mary, Not a Martha

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Thanksgiving week is here! This week for me tends to be one of the most stressful weeks of the year- preparing for hosting dinner, last minute grocery store trips, decorating and frantically cleaning things no one will ever notice.

Also, at this time of year, I always remind myself of the parable of Martha and Mary.  Boy, do I ever relate to Martha!

This year, my goal is to be less of a “Martha”, and embrace being a “Mary”.  Making sure I truly enjoy the day with my family and friends instead of only being focused on making the day perfect in my estimation.

I hope you also embrace being more “Mary-like” this year!  Happy Thanksgiving!

Luke 10: 38-42

“Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
