Tuesday Truth - God’s Faithful to His Promises

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Tuesday Truths
Puppies

Sometimes I’m late. And sometimes I promise something and I forget to do it by when I said I’d have it done by.

Case in point? The picture of the two stuffed puppies to the left. These belong to my daughters. The white one needed it’s right ear sewed down again after the tip of it got popped loose. Can’t have those rogue ears flapping everywhere! Then both the white and pink puppies needed their rainbow leashes sewn on; we don’t have unleashed pets in our house.

The problem is that I told one of my daughters that “Of course sweetie, Mom will sew these after you go to bed” about, oh, a week ago. And then they sat on the kitchen counter, waiting patiently for their turn for Mom’s attention after the house is settled quiet for the evening. Night after night, I’d see them sitting there and think “Oh yeah! I need to do that too.” But I kept busy with other things and forgot.

Last night, my daughter reminded me of my promise. And last night I sat as the last one awake to follow through on that promise. Not as a martyr, but as a mom trying to be faithful when I’d already forgotten and broken a promise to promptly fix these puppies.

Then, to compound the issue, I was trying to fall asleep and remembered that “Oh I still need to write my blog for the morning!” So friends, here I sit at 6:06AM, coffee in hand, a bit bleary-eyed (please have grace with any typos), writing from the heart about how I (and we) can promise things, yet sometimes break or deliver late on those promises.

I’m also very much reminded of how our Heavenly Father is perfect and He doesn’t break or deliver late on His promises. The promise of eternal life was already sealed before you and I were born. The promise of the Holy Spirit’s presence with us as believers will never be broken. God’s not surprised at how quickly 10PM may come and doesn’t get sidetracked with other projects or ambitions when He promises to be faithful to do good works in us at the appointed time.

I’m so thankful that God is more faithful and consistently so compared to me. I’d fail entirely (and do even in small things) because I’m human. Thank God for His everlasting faithfulness and always on-time delivery of promises; such a good reminder for us all today.

Psalm 89:1-2,8 - “I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make Your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that Your love stands firm forever, that You have established Your faithfulness in Heaven itself. Who is like You, Lord God Almighty? You, Lord, are mighty, and Your faithfulness surrounds You.”
