Whenever my faith journey is feeling a little stale, I pick up a book that I purchased several years ago; “In God’s Name, Wisdom from the World’s Great Spiritual Leaders” by Jules and Gedeon Naudet.

It’s a beautifully written book profiling spiritual leaders across the world (with amazing photography), and asks some compelling questions about faith, who is God, the meaning of life, et al.  I’m reminded that despite where we live, at our core we have more similarities than differences.

A few of my favorite quotes- I hope they inspire you as well, enjoy!

“I think right now we need to stop and listen to each other, to hear the agonies and joys of our life stories.  And hear where those stories are different and where they intersect”.

-Bishop Mark S. Hanson (Bishop, Evangelical Lutheran Church)

“I see God in the sun that rises and the moon that glows, in the river that runs, in the wide sea and in every human being living his life.  I see God in all the manifestations in the universe.”

-Grand Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah (Shite Muslim leader)

“The meaning of life is to love others as we love ourselves and serve others.”

-Amma Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Hindu spiritual leader)

“God is the center of my being.  He is the center of the universe.  He is the center of my heart.”

-Dr Frank S. Page (President, Southern Baptist convention)

“In every human heart, despite all the problems that exist, is a thirst for God.”

-Pope Benedict XVI (Roman Catholic church)
