In today’s society, it can be incredibly difficult to discern what’s true and what’s not—especially when it comes to the media and social media. Headlines are often misleading, designed to evoke fear or strong emotions just to generate clicks, rather than to convey accurate information. On social media, we’re constantly exposed to videos or posts that can give a false impression—whether it’s promoting a product as the best on the market or showcasing someone’s vacation as picture-perfect.

We may think we understand the truth behind these posts or headlines, but the reality is that it’s hard to know what can genuinely be trusted and what should be questioned or dismissed as exaggerated or false.

In contrast, the Word of God is a truth we can always rely on. It’s unchanging, dependable, and life-giving. The stories in the Bible are God-breathed and true. We know this from 2 Timothy 3:16 when it says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” We know that God loves us. We know we serve an awesome God. We know He is always with us. These are the truths we can stand on with full confidence. And we can be sure that God’s Word never comes back void.

Social media and news media aren’t inherently bad—but it’s important to remember that not everything you see online is true. So, instead of placing your trust in every post or headline, remind yourself of what is true: the Word of God.
