Key Verse: Vs 27 says, “Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded.”

Boasting = spiritual pride, self-righteousness, seeing ourselves as better (or worse), judging, and comparing. This passage is encouraging us to stop it.  There’s nothing we can do to earn salvation.  Nothing.  It’s given as a free gift.  We don’t deserve it.

Once we understand this, there’s no room left for spiritual pride. The gospel humbles us—it reminds us that we bring nothing to the table but our need.

Paul goes on to insist that faith in Jesus doesn’t nullify the law; rather, it fulfills it. God’s purpose for the law was to point us to Christ, showing us our inability to save ourselves.

When our hearts grasp that salvation is all grace, it eliminates boasting, comparing, judging…and invites everyone to the same table.

May we grab hold of, claim, and praise God for this.

Key Takeaways:

  1. No boasting because salvation is not earned, it’s given.
  2. Saved by faith in Jesus, not works or by following the Law.
  3. Salvation is for everyone, both Jews and non-Jews.
  4. The Law reveals sin and points us to our need for Jesus.
  5. This Gospel message is characterized by humility, gratitude, and unity.

Prayer:  Father, thank You that salvation leaves no room for boasting. Keep my heart humble and filled with gratitude for Your mercy.
