So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

The gospel calls us to put Christ above our preferences, love others through our differences, and pursue unity for God’s glory. Romans 14:19 says, “Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”

Keep the Main Thing the Main Thing (Romans 14:1–6) THE RELATIONSHIP

  1. Don't turn personal convictions into biblical commands. Not every disagreement is a matter of right and wrong.
  2. Give others the same grace God has given you. God has welcomed those who belong to Him, even when you see things differently.
  3. Focus on pleasing the Lord, not winning arguments. We can disagree without looking down on one another.

Use Your Freedom to Build Others Up (Romans 14:13–19)

  1. Let love guide your choices. Being free to do something doesn't always mean it's helpful to do it.
  2. Consider how your actions affect others. Ask, “Will this strengthen someone's faith or create an unnecessary obstacle?”
  3. Make peace and spiritual growth your priority. Being right matters but building up others matters too.

Use Your Strength to Serve, Not to Get Your Way (Romans 15:1–3)

  1. Maturity means putting others ahead of yourself. Strong believers help carry others' burdens rather than demanding their own preferences.
  2. Follow the example of Jesus. He didn't live to please Himself; He willingly sacrificed for others.
  3. Measure your strength by how well you serve. God gives us influence and maturity to help others grow, not to control them.

Welcome Others the Way Christ Welcomed You (Romans 15:5–7)

  1. Unity brings glory to God. When believers stand together despite their differences, they reflect the heart of Christ.
  2. Remember how Christ welcomed you. We extend grace to others because we have received grace ourselves.
  3. Make room for differences without losing our unity in Christ. A church united around Jesus becomes a powerful witness to the world.

Key takeaway: Unity doesn't mean we agree on everything. It means we love one another, put Christ first, and refuse to let secondary differences divide what God has brought together.
