Thursday Thoughts- Loved First, Loved Always
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
“Loved First, Loved Always”
“I have loved thee with an everlasting love.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
God’s love isn’t a reward for getting life right. It isn’t saved for the people who pray the most, believe the most, or mess up the least. It reaches the believer who has walked with Him for decades and the person who isn’t sure He exists. It reaches the one sitting in church and the one who walked out years ago.
That can be hard to accept. Some of us think we have to earn it. Others think we’re too far gone for it. Both ideas miss the same truth: God loved us first, before we did anything to deserve it.
So how should we think about it?
Receive it. Stop trying to qualify for something that’s already offered freely. Let it be true for you, even on your worst day.
Rest in it. If His love doesn’t depend on your performance, you don’t have to carry the weight of being enough. You can bring Him your hard stuff exactly as it is.
Reflect it. If God loves everyone, we don’t get to decide who’s worth our kindness. The neighbor who believes differently, the coworker who frustrates us, and the person we’d rather avoid are all people God loves. Our job is to love them too.
Wherever you are today, the door is open. You are known, you are wanted, and you are loved, right now and always.
