Friday Devotional - The Cost and Miracle of Easter
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Good Friday (Jesus’ Death on the Cross)
- It’s called “good” because of what Christians believe it accomplished
What happened?
- According to religious and non-religious scholars Jesus was a real person
- Jesus comes into town on a donkey as the Messiah. The Jews think he’s going to establish his rule
- Jesus was arrested, tried, and sentenced to death
- He was crucified (nailed to a cross) and died under Pontius Pilate in 1st century Judea
Why?
- Jesus took the punishment for all of us. He gave His life for all who make Him Lord and Savior. For all human sin…He paid the price…He paid our debt
- Because of that there is forgiveness. People can be forgiven. Seen as though we’ve never sinned
Easter (The Resurrection of Jesus)
What happened?
- Jesus rose from the dead three days after His death
- His tomb was found empty…except for some burial cloths
Why it His resurrection matters?
- Confirms Jesus’ divine nature and teachings
- Victory over sin and death
- Promise of eternal life for believers. Hope beyond death: Life doesn’t end at the grave
Big Picture (Simple Summary). Tommorow is Friday…but Sunday is coming.
- Good Friday = Sacrifice and forgiveness
- Easter = Hope and new life through Christ
- Together: A message that love, grace, and hope overcome sin, pain, and death
I pray we all can celebrate the amazing, costly, and miraculous weekend that is coming. Thank you Lord!
A nugget: Fun thing to study and/or look at. The Shroud of Turin. A MUST WATCH!
