Friday Devotional - “Unashamed of the Gospel”…Are you ashamed?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Romans 1:16-17 is the main theme of Romans: “I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”
The gospel saves.
1. Who’s writing? (v.1–5)
Paul introduces himself as a servant of Christ, called to spread the gospel. This gospel is God’s plan, promised long ago, fulfilled in Jesus—fully human (from David), fully divine (Son of God by resurrection).
➤ The gospel is not new, not man-made—it’s God's message about Jesus. It’s found throughout the Bible.
2. Who’s he writing to? (v.6–7)
Paul writes to believers in Rome—both Jews and gentiles - called by God, loved, and made holy.
➤ If you're in Christ, it’s because God called you. You belong to Him.
3. Why’s he writing? (v.8–15)
Paul longs to be with them them—to encourage them, share spiritual gifts, and preach the gospel.
➤ Gospel community is about mutual growth and mission.
4. What’s the big idea? (v.16–17)
“I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…”
The gospel saves. It reveals God’s righteousness and is received by faith, start to finish.
➤ The gospel isn’t good advice—it’s good news. It doesn’t just inspire, it saves.
The gospel is God’s power to save anyone who believes. Paul’s unashamed—and we should be too.
