Monday Mission - Change Your Lens

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Monday Mission
A hand holds a circular lens or filter in front of a cityscape, creating a fisheye view of tall buildings and trees under a mostly clear blue sky.

What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I know for me I far too often will reach over, grab my phone and start my day off with a strong dose of anxiety, jealousy or bad news. What I mean is, I grab my phone and with one eye sleepily open scroll Twitter or Facebook for a few minutes as I slowly wake up. What a horrible way to start your day! If your first moments of each day involve scrolling social media, checking emails or your calendar for the day...STOP! Instead, get out of bed, go make up a cup of coffee or tea and sit down and read your Bible. I challenge you to do this for even just one week...I can promise you will feel the difference in your mind and spirit.

Be intentional with what lens you are viewing the world through. Is it through the 'fakeness' of what you see on social media or are you viewing it through the lens of our Lord and Savior? It's so incredibly easy to let yourself mindlessly scroll Instagram or Twitter...but stop and think about what you are seeing, reading and taking in and how that is molding and shaping your perspective on yourself and others.

Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
