Monday Mission - Embracing Rest

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Matthew 11:28-29 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
As summer begins, lots of us are probably eager for a break. Maybe we will take a vacation, spend more time outside, or soak up the longer days by enjoying a slower morning. Summer is often a break from the routine that many of us grow accustomed to. More than a break from our busy schedules, God offers us rest that is deeper than relaxing. He offers rest for the soul. Relief from anxiety, guilt, and the pressure to always be at our best. Jesus models this rest. He took time away from the crowds to pray in solitude and walk with purpose, not because of pressure. He invites us to do the same! My challenge to you this week is to take one hour (or whole day if you can swing it!) to intentionally rest and spend time in God’s presence.
