Monday Mission - Winning the Right Approval
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Paul’s letter to the Galatians can be summarized in the idea that our salvation comes from Jesus Christ—not by our works or by following the law alone. The law is important; it keeps people safe and helps maintain order in the world. However, it is not a means to salvation. Neither are our works. We are called to do God’s work on Earth—through mission work, using our time, talents, and resources, and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ—but these actions do not earn us salvation.
Paul teaches that salvation is ultimately given to us through Jesus Christ. He is the one in whom we should place our faith, not in our own efforts or earthly authorities. One of my favorite verses from Galatians is Galatians 1:10, where Paul says, “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
We should be far more concerned with gaining the approval of God than of people. We can’t fool God—He sees our hearts and knows our true intentions. Our salvation comes through Him alone, not by simply following laws or performing good works for the recognition of others. Seek the approval of the only one who truly matters: Christ Jesus.
