Thursday Thoughts : Who do you lean on?

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Thursday Thoughts

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

By Thursday, the week may look different than it did on Monday. Some things went according to plan. Others didn't. Maybe something you were worried about worked itself out. Maybe a new challenge appeared that you never saw coming. So Thursday is a good day to ask: What have I been leaning on this week? Have I been leaning on my own ability? My plans? Other people's opinions? My circumstances? Or have I been leaning on God?

Proverbs 3:5 doesn't tell us to stop thinking, planning, or making wise decisions. It tells us not to make our own understanding the foundation of our trust. There's an important difference between saying, “God, bless my plan,” and saying, “God, lead me in Your plan.” One puts us in control and asks God to follow. The other puts God in control and asks us to follow.

Take a few minutes today and look back over your week.

Where did you see God at work?

Where did you struggle to trust Him?

What are you still carrying that you need to give to Him?

Then remind yourself that trusting God isn't something we decide once. It's a choice we make again and again.
