“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds… encouraging one another.”

1. We all need encouragement

  • Even strong Christians become tired, discouraged, and overwhelmed.
  • Sometimes a simple word can make a tremendous difference.
  • God often uses us to be the encouragement someone else needs.

2. Encouragement is more than saying nice things

  • Encouragement means helping someone keep going.
  • It can be a phone call, a prayer, a thank-you, or simply showing up.
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:11: “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up.”

3. Look for someone who needs it (Listen to the Holy Spirit’s nudge)

  • We don't always know what someone is carrying.
  • The person who seems strongest may be struggling the most.
  • Ask yourself: “Who can I encourage today?” Or “God, who do I need to encourage today?”
  • Don't wait for someone to ask. Take the initiative…take the nudge..

4. Jesus is our example

  • Jesus continually strengthened and restored people.
  • He saw people others overlooked.
  • He spoke hope to those who were hurting.
  • As followers of Christ, we are called to do the same.

Challenge

This week, intentionally encourage one person every day.

Prayer:
“Lord, help us to notice people who need encouragement. Give us eyes to see, hearts to care, and courage to speak words that build others up. Use us to bring hope, strength, and joy to those around us. In Jesus' name, amen.”
