James 1:22 22 But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

So often I wish God would just speak plainly to me, like he spoke to Moses. I long to hear the voice of God and be told exactly what to do. But if I really stop and think about that, I’m reminded that Moses didn’t have the luxury of having a written Bible. He had to do the work of writing the first few books of the Bible so we could hear what God has for us. Moses didn’t know how salvation would come through Jesus’s death on the cross or any of the stories in the rest of the Old Testament and New Testament that teach us so much more about the character and heart of God.

Maybe I wouldn’t switch spots with Moses. Today in the United States 87% of homes own at least 1 Bible. It’s estimated that there are over 6 billion copies in print globally. We have access to God’s word, and it is within our own homes. God’s word is accessible and is for everyone. Don’t miss the tremendous opportunity to hear from God yourself. Open your bibles, read, discover, and pray for God to show you what he has for you and then put into practice what he reveals to you.
