Monday Mission – Get Your Proximity Right
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
About a month ago, I was helping my daughter with her driver’s ed training. Part of the requirement was to record 5 hours of driving time. We were instructed to keep the videos to 15-20 minutes, so I had lots of videos to upload. The upload process was painstaking and taking over 2 hours per video to complete. At one point I left my house and went to pick up a pizza (at Pizza Ranch, of course!) and the video loaded in 30 seconds while I was waiting. Crazy! I realized then that the cell phone tower was nearby Pizza Ranch and it made all the difference, the actual signal was that much stronger. This reminded me of a recent message I heard about how our proximity to God matters. When you’re spending time with God are you getting your proximity right by removing distractions, keeping your focus on his word, spending time in silence so you can hear God’s whispers in your soul? Are you taking things to God that burden you? God can lighten the load if we just share it with him. Just like my proximity to the cell tower made in impact on how quickly my videos uploaded, our proximity to God helps us through our day. Start your week off right by making sure you’re nice and close to God.
