Tuesday Truths - Don't Be Lukewarm

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

The Bible is very clear about lukewarm Christians. The clearest verse regarding this is found in Revelation 3:15–16. It reads, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

Although this was written to the church in Laodicea, we can infer that, since this is the Word of God written in the Bible, it is also for us. It is pretty clear that Jesus does not like lukewarm Christians. He wants Christians who have given their whole lives to Him, not those who are split between living for the flesh and living for God.

Matthew 6:24 warns about this when Jesus says, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.”

A different way to look at this is that we cannot serve both earthly things and godly things. This is being lukewarm. We are on Earth to serve God and spread the Good News. Everything else is meaningless without Him.
