“If you aren’t getting better, you’re getting worse.” Have you ever heard this saying? While it may not hold true for every situation, it definitely applies to spending time with Jesus and reading the Word.

It can be so easy to fall out of the routine of reading the Bible, praying, and spending time with God. However, if we aren’t doing this daily—or even multiple times a day—we risk losing that vital connection.

2 Timothy 3:14-17 says, “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We need the Word to teach others about Jesus, to understand what is true according to the Bible, and to continually train ourselves to be disciples of Christ. Make it a priority to engage in these practices daily, and strive not to fall out of this routine. If you have fallen out of a routine, as I have done time and again, now is the time to get back into it. Start right now!
