Monday Mission - Enjoy the Creation
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
In the past week or two, the mornings have been absolutely perfect in Iowa. They have been clear, calm, and cool. I watched an entire sunrise for the first time in my life with my wife the other day. I couldn’t help but ask myself, “Why did it take this long for me to watch a sunrise?” I was blown away by the beauty of God’s creation that morning.
Not only was I amazed by God’s creation, but it was also the first time in a while that I truly relaxed and took it all in. There was nowhere to be at that time, and it felt good to finally not be rushing somewhere. Psalm 104:1 says, “Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty, covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent. He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot; he rides on the wings of the wind; he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.” This is such a beautiful verse. The imagery that the Psalmist uses reminds me of those stunning Iowa sunrises.
My mission for you is to take the time to be still. Spend time in nature. Stop rushing somewhere for ten minutes. Take in the beauty of God’s creation. When you really stop and admire, God’s beauty can truly speak to you.
