Tuesday Truths - God's Plan
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
It’s more than likely that you’ve heard the well-known Bible verse from Jeremiah 29:11, which says: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” But where does this verse come from?
Around 597 BC, many Israelites were taken from Jerusalem to Babylon. The home they once knew was gone. This exile was the result of the sin and disobedience the Israelites had been living in. However, this was not the end for them. God, through the prophet Jeremiah, promised restoration and healing in their new land. This is where the verse comes into play. Jeremiah was writing to the exiled Israelites, reassuring them that God had not abandoned them. He had a plan—a plan to prosper them, not to harm them; to give them hope and a future.
The same is true for us today. The Lord knows the plans He has for us. It can be hard, especially when the future feels uncertain, to know what the best course of action is. But remember: God cares for you and loves you more than you could ever imagine. He has a purpose for your life. So lean on Him. Pray to Him when you're faced with difficult decisions or situations. He is faithful, and He walks before you, behind you, and alongside you.
