“Grace is the Miracle Gro for our spiritual gardens.”  This morning, as I was watching my daily reflection video, I heard this quote from Msgr. James Vlaun.

This is such a beautiful and incredibly accurate metaphor. If our spiritual life is a garden, grace functions exactly like a premium fertilizer or "Miracle-Gro."

In a garden, you can’t bully or threaten a seed to make it grow faster, and you can’t force a plant into bloom by pulling on its leaves. Force and pressure only break things, they don’t inspire growth. 

Our spiritual garden functions the same way, and grace acts as our Miracle Gro.  Grace doesn't demand anything; instead, it enriches the soil of our spirit. It provides the deep nourishment that gives our roots strength to push downward and our branches the confidence to reach upward and bloom.
