— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Many people struggle with heart conditions, in fact it's the #1 cause of death in the USA. The American Heart Association (AHA) is celebrating their 100th year. The association was founded in 1924 by pioneering physicians and social workers that believed they could make a difference. They studied and learned more about how the heart functions and in 1957 the first pacemaker was implanted into a patient. Today, there are numerous ways the AHA contributes to improving heart health for many Americans. Here are a few stats from their website (www.heart.org).
- 15.1% Reduction in Death from Heart Disease
- $5.7 Billion in research funding since 1949
- 22 million people trained in CPR annually
