So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

I want you to take part in a little exercise where you will take the next 3 minutes to close your eyes while you sit or stand and try to just be still. Without any preconceived notions, thoughts, ideas, or directions, I want you to try to just be still.

Hopefully, you took the time to do the exercise and if so, I am curious to know what things came to you in your stillness? How did these three minutes make you feel and were you able to just be still? How long did the 3 minutes feel? Was it a time that allowed you to move towards peace, or get caught up in your chaos? Was there anything you were able to learn about yourself?

Why is this exercise one that is important? One thing we know about Jesus is that he took time and made a habit of withdrawing and finding moments throughout his life to be still and seek God’s will. Jesus knew the power of stillness and allowing God to come into his thoughts and mind. When he was approaching his last days Jesus spent significant time being still.

What if I changed the directions of the exercise and instead of just being still, you were asked to take 3 minutes to be still and allow your mind to seek God’s will in the silence?

Each morning I have tried to put this into practice and sometimes in my stillness, I am able to hear, see, understand His will clearly and other times I am just left with peace in knowing that I need to wait.

I love the verse Psalms 37:7, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.” This verse challenges us to not only be still, but to wait patiently for God’s timing and provision.

Be encouraged today to take the 3 minute stillness challenge and make it part of your day. In these 3 minutes, allow God to bring His will and peace. Remember to be patient and trust that His timing is perfect and let Him work!
