Friday Devotional - Compassion and Capacity

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Friday Devotional
Luke 10 36 37

Today we'll look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan and the parallels we see with our Pizza Ranch Vision and Mission.

You can find the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37. A religious leader was trying to trap Jesus with The Law, but he asked a good question. Jesus turned the question back on him and asked him to answer it; he does by quoting the Greatest Commandment.

"You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength and all your mind. And, love your neighbor as yourself."

We find direct parallels with the first part in our Vision/Purpose To Glorify God (Love God) and our Mission To Give Every Guest a Legendary Experience (Love our Neighbor).

The religious leader then asked, "Who is my neighbor?" and Jesus replied with the parable story. This was a shocking story to the religious audience! We see the Samaritan using the capabilities he had given his likely trade in business (meaning, he had the monetary means) to show compassion on the beaten man.

We need both Compassion and Capacity in order to really love our neighbors.

  • If we have capacity without compassion, we are lost, like the rich young ruler.
  • If we have compassion without capacity, we are left feeling frustrated.

The beauty of Pizza Ranch is that it allows us to fully love and honor God, and love others. The work we do every day honors the Lord and prepares us, or creates the capacity for what He has for us to do beyond our work.

May you feel encouraged that the work you do can make an impact and Glorify God!
