Friday Devotional- God Watches Over Us

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

We’ve been slowly walking through the Book of Psalms, and this week we’re looking at Psalm 33. The Psalms do such a great job of talking about the topics and emotions we most often deal with in life. This is wisdom we can soak in, use, and grab hold of daily. It’s been the most relatable book of the Bible to me over the years of my life.

Today we’re looking at what this passage says about God watching us in our business, our city, our nation, and us as individuals. This is the case for those all around the world, but what does that look like?

Have you ever wondered how God watches us? I sure have. When I was a child I imagined God sitting in a chair, looking down from the sky, and watching all that we do. I’d say now I have more of the perspective that He’s in the very air we breathe. He’s part of us. He knows and sees us because He’s in us, around us, and outside of us through the work of the Holy Spirit. But, make no mistake, He is watching us from His throne in heaven.

Psalms 33:13-15 says, “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from His dwelling place He watches all who live on earth…He who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.”

There’s more to this with believers.

Psalm 33:18 says, “The eyes of the Lord are on those who revere Him, on those who hope in His unfailing love.”

May we each take refuge in this promise that the Lord’s eyes are on those who hope in His unfailing love. God delivers us, keeps us, helps us, shields us, and loves us.
