Friday Devotional- Knowing God
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
The Book of Daniel has some of the most amazing stories in the Bible. In chapter 11 we find Daniel listening to an angel tell him about all that is to come (And to date, it all has come true). But, it’s what the angel says in Daniel 11:32 that is the focus today, “…but the people who know their God will firmly resist.” In spite of all that is going on during the time of Daniel, he knew and stayed faithful to God. The message today for us is, we can too.
It's important to know God, but it’s not just knowing about God. This verse is about knowing God in a personal, intimate way. It’s in such a way that we talk to Him throughout the day, we look to Him for comfort and strength, and we even ask Him for advice. We glorify and praise Him in real time. We’re thankful that He is or becomes, our closest friend.
God reveals Himself in nature, through people, and through the Bible. But He ultimately reveals Himself through the person of Jesus. May we look to know Him better every day. May He be glorified.
