Friday Devotional – Psalm 41
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
We’ve been slowly walking through the Book of Psalms, and this week we’re looking at (Psalm 41). The Psalms do such a great job of talking about the topics and emotions we most often deal with in life.
There’s so much in this chapter, each verse is full of wisdom we can soak in, use, and grab hold of daily.
This particular Psalm talks about 7 blessings for helping the poor, 4 requests from David, and 8 statements regarding hate. The Word is new every morning.
What stood out to me in the passage was found in (Psalm 41:10-13) (Read). David is recognizing all the mercy that God gives. He sees that he’s not getting what he deserves.
He’s clinging to the idea that we can experience it and that it has an effect on us.
- God’s mercies are new every morning.
- God’s mercy will ultimately produce joy and gratitude in all circumstances.
- Our circumstances may or may not change, but we can cling to the fact that we have God’s merciful love instead of the wrath we deserve, by God’s grace.
- This kind of attitude drives David to worship and thankfulness. It’s one of the things we see in David consistently, is his worship.
May we be able praise God through it all. May mercy always lead us to worship. Thank you God for the ultimate victory, that we can have it, that we’re adopted in, that You lavish us with love, grace, and forgiveness. Thanks be to God.
Help us to pour out that same kind of mercy and love to others.
