God's Faithfulness

In my lifetime, now more than ever, we seem to have a country in turmoil, there is craziness and danger everywhere, and slander seems to be the norm. It makes me angry sometimes. It makes me feel powerless…like there’s nothing I can do. But there are answers found in Scripture.

We’ve been slowly walking through the Book of Psalms, and this week we’re looking at (Psalm 56). In this passage you can find 2 requests of David, 10 reasons for an answer, and 8 things David is confident about.

What stood out to me in this passage is how David is praying for God’s help as he is being plotted against, threatened, and attacked by enemies.

  • How does he handle it? He has a calming trust in God through it all.

Our lives (just like David’s life) can be full of turmoil, craziness, and danger. Our world is crazy in its own way. We can feel threatened from all sides sometimes.

  • How do we handle it?

The passage gives us 3 things to do:

  1. To Pray (Vs 1-2)
  2. To trust (Vs 3-11)
  3. To thank (Vs 12-13) as if it’s already done.

Some things to claim:

  1. Cast our burdens on the Lord.
  2. He will take us through it.
  3. Take comfort that God is intimately aware of what’s happening.
  4. He sees our struggles and stands ready to intervene.
  5. We will not be overcome or destroyed.
  6. He is not distant or uncaring.
  7. Instead, He actively protects and upholds us.
  8. We have an unshakeable foundation.

May we each find rest in God’s faithfulness…placing our burdens, no matter what they are, firmly in God’s hands where they belong.
