Friday Devotional – The Source of Wisdom

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31

Friday Devotional
Wisdom

When I was young, I met with an older Christian once a week to learn more about what it meant to be a Christian. In other words, he discipled me. We talked about a lot of different truths in the Bible, but also about all the stuff we hear and see in the world. It was so, so good for me. I’d say that the most important thing he taught me was to get in the habit of reading the Bible every day. He taught me that the Bible is the source of wisdom, understanding, and discernment…and that if I keep reading, even when I didn’t fully understand all the time, that it would guide my path.

We want the Lord to guide our path here at Pizza Ranch too. So, before we make all kinds of decisions for the business, every Friday morning we start our leadership meetings with an accountability time. We go around the table, one at a time, and tell everyone how our Bible reading went that week, how our prayer time was, what the Lord was teaching us, and anything we may need to share or receive prayer for. It’s usually a wonderful and fulfilling time. But none of us are perfect, so there are times when one or more of us share that we weren’t in the Word at all for whatever reason. That life just got in the way. Again, the idea is to find wisdom, understanding, and discernment for our business decisions from more than just the whims of our feelings.

Psalm 119:105 “The Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

In my years of being a believer, I’ve noticed that I learn something new almost every time I go through the Bible. The word of God is new every morning, it never comes back void, and my Kingdom perspective continues to grow. And there’s an answer for any question we could possibly have.

My challenge is for all of us to find time each day to read from the Bible. It will change our perspective as we navigate this crazy world.

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
