Now that this is the second week of 2024, I’m still thinking about what this year could look like for me. I heard the question asked in a podcast, “Is your soul ready for 2024?”. That really got me thinking; am I truly bringing God into my life and into all my plans. John 15:4 says, “Remain in me, as I also remain in you.”

One way to do this is to make sure I am aligned with Jesus in everything, including my thoughts and desires. I need to take the time to be quiet and listen to Him.

The verse then goes on to say, “No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

This reminds me that I cannot be an effective witness for God without being deeply rooted in Him. In order to bear His good fruit, I need to be grafted, permanently connected, to Him. I can’t bear any fruit unless I am actively spending time with God.

I hope this encourages you as it did me to make spending time with God a priority this year and taking the time to quietly listen to Him.
