Who do you surround yourself with? Do you live with your own set of blinders on, perhaps unaware of the way you are going about life? Do you trust and reflect on your own intuitions or do you fold in the perspective and opinions of others?

As I’ve matured in my faith I come to find great strength in the ‘community of believers’, not relying on myself to know the path, but to surround myself with others who have the same overarching goal in life of following Jesus Christ.

Find people that use phrases like “we need to make sure we do this the right way”, “what would He (referring to God) want us to do here”. Surround yourself with people who devote time and energy to understanding and reflecting on His Word, not the current social media craze, or things of this world. Find people who can help take your biased and short-sighted blinders off, people that can help give you a broader perspective of His Love, His Glory and His purpose for your life.

As we read in Psalm 1:1-2:

1 Oh, the joys of those who do not

follow the advice of the wicked,

or stand around with sinners,

or join in with mockers.

2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,

meditating on it day and night.
