Monday Mission - Helping the Poor
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Jesus taught us that blessed are the poor, for the kingdom of God is theirs. And those who are hungry now will be satisfied. Those who hurt now will laugh. These words are encouraging us for when we are in pain, sad, hungry, cold, or just in a downward, negative place.
Some of Jesus' ministry included not only verbal encouragement and instruction regarding people who are poor and lowly. But also practical examples. He fed people who were hungry. He healed people who were injured. He gave love, compassion, and uplifting actions to those who were outcasts.
"Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done."
Please spend time praying to God for direction on how you can be a servant of Him today, by showing love, compassion, and actionable tasks to help the poor.
