In our fast-paced culture, we are constantly in motion, so many things to do each day! Busy calendars, jobs, social media time, and a racing mind. In this devotional it reminds me that we are not good at resting. Lately I have been going to bed around 10pm and rising around 6am and as the day goes on I find myself yawning and very tired. We are challenged with giving ourself permission to slow down and find quite time to refresh and renew just to spend 5-10 minutes alone without our phones, watches, tv or whatever would distract you from resting shutting your mind down.
Quote by Thomas Merton: "...all men need enough silence and solitude in their lives to enable the deep inner voice of their own true self to be heard at least occasionally."
So our challenge is to practice resting start with 2 minutes a day and work up to the 10 minutes.
