In seasons of hardship and trials, it might feel like God is far away at times. However, that is not the case. Scripture assures us that even in difficult times, nothing can separate us from God’s love. Today we are going to dive deep into a section of scripture that reminds us how great God’s love is for us!

Romans 8:31-39 is a powerful segment of scripture that provides us with 3 truths and encouragements:

Truth #1 (Found in verses 31-32): God is for us. As a believer, God is working through you and in you, not against you. Verse 32 reminds us that God loves you so much He gave up his own son in your place. He has paid the ultimate sacrifice to allow you to become an adopted Child of the King.

Truth #2 (Found in verses 33-34): We are redeemed and will not face condemnation. To say we are free from condemnation is not to say we have not sinned, but rather that our sins have already been paid for. When Satan comes and accuses us, Christ intercedes on our behalf. He has already taken the punishment for our sins through his death on the cross. That debt has been paid and we get to stand righteous before God.

Truth #3 (Found in verses 35-39): Nothing can separate us from Christ’s Love. While trials and difficulties may make us FEEL distant from God, this is not reality. These verses list 14 potential challenges – hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, sword, life, death, angels, demons, present challenges, future challenges, height, or depth – and assure us that they, nor anything else can come between us and Christ’s love for us. These verses encourage us that we are not victims in this life or the next, but rather conquerors of death because of Christ’s sacrifice.
