Monday Mission - Prayer
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
The topic of prayer has been front-of-mind for me recently and God is revealing new and beautiful things through His Word as I seek scripture about prayer. Many of us know we can pray anywhere, anytime and about anything, but how often are those prayers self-focused requests?
"God, be with me today." "God, keep me safe." "God, please don't let me fail this test."
Matthew 6:9-13 teaches us that while yes, we go to God with our requests, that shouldn't be our first words and thoughts.
"Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name." First, we are recognizing WHO we get to talk with. The God of the Universe! Let's remember how reverent we should be with God's name every time we say and think it; what an honor it is that this same God is the one who cares so deeply for us!
This week let's continue to bring our requests to God, but focus more on who he is than what he can do for us.
