Proverbs 9 - The Invitations of Wisdom and Folly

Many things try to entice us in this world, and some are worth pursuing - but not all are equal. Folly, as referenced in the book of Proverbs, tries to appeal to our senses and pleasure. In contrast, Wisdom appeals first to the mind but thankfully opens up her invitation to us as well. The banquet laid out by Wisdom in chapter 9 mirrors the banquet Jesus describes in one of his parables (Luke 14:15-24). Many intend to go but unfortunately many get sidetracked by things deemed more important. We must stay focused in our pursuit of God's wisdom and ask for this daily. Alongside prayer, also seek out other mature Christians to join their company. The support, correction, and models of these people will strengthen us in this worthy pursuit.

Today, ask God for his wisdom, to be in the company of the wise, and the Holy Spirit's guidance to help instruct and encourage others on their journey.
