As we read through the Old Testament, we see how the Israelites are called to be separate from other nations. God chose Abraham and his descendants to be His people and the line for His Son, Jesus.

Beginning in Exodus, God delivers the Israelites out of slavery to bring them to the promised land. During this time, God commands Moses to instruct the people how to worship, observe holidays, handle civil disputes, and prepare themselves before the Lord. Many of these practices were in stark contrast to the other nations around them.

Through Jesus' teachings and perfect sacrifice some of these former practices are no longer necessary, however, both then and now, God calls His people to be holy and committed to Him only. As followers of Christ, we should look and act different than the world. We must be bold in love and truth to stand out for Christ while we live in this world and move towards our eternal home with Him.
